Fuel for the Fire

I saw this thread over at extremeskins, and before it got lost and I couldnt find it anymore, I figured I'd post this right here....

"I dont know who watched Monday Night Live last night. Its a new show locally here on Comcast for 2 hours before MNF. It was actually really good, Chick Hernandez is on it, which isnt really a good thing, but Doc Walker is on it and Shawn Springs is going to be on it every week and every week he'll bring a different guest. Last night it was Cooley.

Anyways they were talking about the Dallas game and Cooley said he grew up hating the Cowboys anyways.

Also Cooley said he took a visit to Dallas before the draft and Bill Parcells told him that he will never be anything more than a backup in the NFL.

So he says he even got more motivation to succeed against Dallas.

I wonder why you'd tell that to someone when they are taking a visit b/c you are thinking of drafting them. That just seems stupid to me. Just trying to put somebody down."

Cooley is the kind of guy who will make the probowl with this team. His ability to block, catch and hold on to the ball is impressive. The catch he had against the Bucs was the best reception of that game. I love players who hate Dallas. Like Fred Smoooooooooooooot!

well, KWII pretty much lost any shot he may have had at the probowl and offensive rookie of the year now... besides being in the afc

in the nfc, there's shockey, maybe LJ smith... not sure who else... (not that i think cooley is gonna pro bowl this year, but the nfc's an easier place to do it)...

on the other hand, looks like cooley is gonna be a better TE than KW this year, so not only did mr. "joe gibbs is a liar" not get drafted by the skins... he won't even be as good a pass catcher as the 3rd rounder we got instead (not to mention blocking).

I like Cooley a lot. Still, I have a bit of trouble believing this story.

The guy running the show in Dallas is a Hall of Fame coach and he invites a potential draftee to come visit and then tells him he is a waste of skin. Makes a lot of sense to me.

Just for fun, change the names and places in ths story:

Kellen Winislow goes on TV in Cleveland and says that when he visited Washington, Joe Gibbs told him he was a punk-ass who couldn't hold his father's jockstrap. Would you believe that Hall of Fame Coach Joe Gibbs would do that? I wouldn't either...

Too bad we don't have any videotape of Cooley's visit and Warner Wolf to shout, "Let's go to the videotape..."

Sound's exactly like something Gibb's would say.

I saw the show and to be honest, I didn't hear Cooley say that. Maybe it happened when I wasn't paying attention or something...

alge crumpler, bubba franks, and kleinsasser(if healthy) would also be ahead of cooley on the probowl rankings unless he see's the ball more than one or 2 times a game.

yeah, forgot alge, cooley needs to prove a lot more to even be considered as a rookie anyways... one TD and a few blocks just isn't enough.

shockey, KW, and klein could have rough years with injuries (shockey included cause of all of his, i don't care if i die, i'll play like i can't get hurt statements)

Yeah, I saw the show and he said exactly that - Parcells told him he would never be a starter in this league, at best a backup. Maybe it's just because I've been a diehard Redskins fan for over 40 years, but between Cooley and Parcells - no question of who to believe for me. Cooley!

Funny because it seems that Cooley would be a Parcells kinda guy.

It's not like Parcells called him garbage, who knows exactly how it was worded. Maybe he just gave his opinion and said I don't see you as a starter. That's nothing to get too upset about.

I guess you're right princess. I do remember missing some of the show now that I look back.

Whatever it takes to motivate this team, I'm with it. The only thing that scares me is that Parcells vs Gibbs is 10-6, and the skins for some reason never play well on Monday night. But I believe. I will be in church sunday morning praying like crazy!!
