My Dad coaches high school football in Florida. Even those high school kids can't execute a passing offense correctly. I say stick to traps, blasts, powers, and dives -- those are always the most effective for my Dad's team.
You mentioned that your kids had trouble with complex blocking schemes, but if you could get just one of them to pull correctly, you could trap your way down to the goal line.
