Coles is picking up alot of coverage from different areas. Parcells knows about Coles. Gardner had a good game but as you guys have said 'just keep it up!'. Bottomline is noone has a good showing if the team loses. This isn't the positives thread. Gardner ain't no Albert Connell thank god. If Connell had ANY brains he woulda gotta outta bounds at the end of the 1st half against Arizona, TWICE. He was reduced to a locker thief. He was fast he could catch. I hope he atleast doing some good drugs now...
Gardner is a good WR, but I do think it helped that my brother wore his jersey to the game. I wore Gary Clark and that didn't seem to help...

Gardner was magnificent, and would have easily been the MVP of the game if the Redskins had been able to pull out the victory. It's mindboggling how up-and-down this guy can be-- and now the same can be said for Coles, for the opposite reason.

I was screaming at the TV when Coles dropped his second pass, "what the f*&% is wrong with you???!!!" Seriously, what the f&%# is wrong with him? It just doesn't make any sense. Does he now have a fractured finger in addition to his fractured toe? It sure looks like it. I was screaming for them to replace him with Thrash or Jacobs or somebody. Madden said it best: "that's just inexcusable."

And by the way, Gardner should have had THREE touchdowns Monday night-- or at least put the Redskins in position to score a third. The refereeing was another thing that was inexcusable in that game. Those were two game-changing situations that those referees screwed up...

Coles is fine, lol this board is hilarious at times. Last week we lynched Gardner, now he's the hero and we're asking what's wrong with Coles. What's wrong with him is he had a bad game, it happens.

RG stepped up big time last night, trouble is he's shown flashes like that in the past only to resort back to 50/50 the week after. We need to see that kind of effort week in and week out.

Regarding Coles and Gardner:
I think it is unrealistic to expect a WR to catch every single ball that is thrown to them that is catchable. We are all human and have bad days. Some more than others. Some might not remember but Gary Clark (one of the best WR's in Redskins history) had the same problem of dropping an occasional easy catch. He had at least one drop of an easy catch a game. My friends and I used to say, "oh good he got the drop out of the way and he will kick ass for the rest of the game."
I also think Brunell and Gardner had a lot of real game rust to shake off and it looks like they did it. Brunell missed most of last year. Gardner was ignored and hung out to dry for two years under Spurier. It looks like they shook off the rust and are ready to play well now. Plus the Dallas defense is no joke. They did well against on of the best defenses.

we need to throw him the ball early in the game even if he drops some, but he will also get some, and by the end of the game gardner will have more faith in himself which I hope and think we will get more of what we watched tonight.

That Guy, yes coles had 100 yards last week but he also droped 1 or 2 easy
passes durning the Giants geame

You can't BEGIN to put Coles in the category that some of had Gardner in. That was an ongoing problem for years. (Notice I said "WAS"). As I said earlier, "shut my mouth" about Gardner!!!

Kudos to Rod, he had a great game. Maybe he was challenged by the coaching staff this week or something....but whatever it was, keep doing it!.....and let Coles in on it! Coles had a bad game and seems to be struggling, but so far they have flip-flopped with Gardner having more catches in game 1, Coles in 2, and Rod in 3. I expect Coles to have a good game next week, and when both of them are on for the same game, watch out!

Next week is Cleveland. Gardner has to believe that he can catch over any secondary. I'm surprised knowone mentioned the bad timing leap in the air on Coles' part on the first long pass of the game. This could have been a turnover that would not have been Brunell's fault. Coles need to settle down and make the pass before deciding to run the ball. Coles has not been able to separate from the CB's who know his speed but due to his injury is not able to cut to the outside with exceptional quickness.

I don't see seperation as the primary problem for Coles, he's been open he's just not finishing the play.

Coles hasn't been 'JETS Open' all year though. he'll get position on DBs cuz he's such a good instinctual WR, but they'll be all over him which is why he's been dropping his passes. i think his toe is realy hurting him. he hasnt been burning anybody. you know him, the toe could be falling off and he wouldnt say anything about it. definitely a concern.

Coles has missed passes across the middle. He's not burning anyone downfield. This is why he doesn't have a TD. Coles is supposed to be our Marvin Harrison. His speed is his weapon.

gotta always keep in mind though, that Gardner is getting it thrown his way cuz the defenses best eyes are on Coles...

So is the defense on Marvin Harrison, Terell Owens and Donald Driver. I believe that Coles' injuries are affecting his play downfield more than the double coverage.

excellent point. yeah, Coles used to catch passes in stride, now he's trying to wrestle it away from defenders. if he cant be our burner/deep threat this season cuz of his injury, he should speak up to not hurt the team; give Jacobs a chance to leave some DBs in the dust. can't be more obvious we really need that deep ball.
