Re: Interesting blog interview on how we build a team
This is my problem with a lot of these analysts who still talk about the Skins spending on big free agents. In general, the Skins have made some brilliant moves that are looking better and better each year.

Guess we disagree about Rogers. While I don't think he's a great corner, he's quite good & this year we're seeing that. even the plaxico td, he was in position to make that play but just missed it. Didn't see Roy Williams or Calvin Johnson burn him. |

Re: Interesting blog interview on how we build a team
The Skins were very prudent last offseason in free agency compared to years past. Fletcher was the biggest signing, and even he was moderately priced. A great trend over the past year has been re-signing our own (Cooley, Sellers, Betts). That trend must continue with Taylor.

Now that this team is in a place where we're on the cusp of being a really good one, you have to consider all the things that you *don't* see that have been growing and solidifying and strengthening in the organization, just as much as all the visible results (like draft picks and W-L records). Prior to Joe getting here, this franchise had become one where the inmates ran the asylum and we had allowed our winning culture to slip into that of a losing, payroll-oriented media circus. What Joe is doing, as far as I am concerned, is restoring the priorities and philosophies of this organization, from the top down.

Re: Interesting blog interview on how we build a team
The thing most people forget about the Bailey-Portis trade is that Bailey did NOT want to be in Washington. He refused to play here, and the Broncos knew that so they had some leverage to push for more in the trade.
