Anyway, I think Doughty has come in and played extremely well. The chest thumping and stuff, I think every team does that when someone drops a ball. Lame? Yes, but we're not alone at least.

Re: Reed Doughty: Excellent Tackler
Speaking of Landry though, is he becoming Carlos Rogers Jr. with dropping INTs?

Re: Reed Doughty: Excellent Tackler
Outside of his exceptional play he is a great guy with a huge heart. I was lucky enough to meet him at training camp as I was standing on the far side of the field after practice. He strolled all the way down to the far side where I was at with some young kids and parents came over and spent almost 10 minutes talking to me. Both him and ARE were down there and it was a great experience.
I got Reed to sign my cap in which I happen to have been wearing last night, and I wore it proud. I think this guy will turn out to be a solid safety and I am proud to have met him. I'm keeping this hat on for the next two games! |

Re: Reed Doughty: Excellent Tackler
I completely forgot about Doughty's backstory:
http://www.redskinswarpath.com/locke...g-article.html Disregarding his on-field play, it's nice to see a stand-up guy making it big.

Re: Reed Doughty: Excellent Tackler
Doughty might end up being a nice find. He's played a lot better so far than I expected him to.

Don't look now guys, but guess who in the Skins has 10.5 sacks? Only 3 back from the lead.

Well, I also strongly doubt that Shockey was saying something disrespectful about ST. In fact, I doubt anyone believes he was saying something bad about him. What seems just as clear, though, is that he was in fact jawing with Doughty about ST. As others have suggested, he was most likely telling Reed that he's no ST, which is, to put it simply, uncool. We all know that Shockey likes getting into it with opponents when he's on the field, and we also know that he had tremendous respect for Sean and has admirably shown respect for Sean with his presence at the funeral and his ST--21 painted on his face. With this combination, he got up off the turf last night, saw Reed, and couldn't keep his mouth shut about ST. There was no doubt they were having an exchange, and that it clearly wasn't the back-slapping type of exchange, and as someone has pointed out, Shockey was pointing at his face while having that exchange. So, no, Shockey wasn't saying anything bad about ST, but there seems to be little doubt that he was talking ABOUT ST to Doughty, and wasn't saying nice things to Doughty. |

Re: Reed Doughty: Excellent Tackler
RD has played pretty decent football. No one will mistake him for ST or LL but he has played better and tougher than any other guys we've had a Safety the last couple fo years. And I don't think we've had bad play at the position outside of last season.

Re: Reed Doughty: Excellent Tackler
Reed has made some good plays and some bad plays, but you guys all have to agree that he is so much better than Archeletta!!!! I think Reed will only improve next year which gets me back to my thoughts that the Skins need to really address our O-line and D-line in the draft next year and not worry about replacing Taylor. Landry and Doughty are good enough with a better pass rush next year.

Re: Reed Doughty: Excellent Tackler
Doughty has definitely surpassed my expectations of him, but I still do not think he is a starting caliber safety in this leauge. Doughty missed quite a few tackles the last couple of games, and he doesn't look extremely fluid in coverage. I believe he was responsible for Boss on that Giants TD, not only did he blow the coverage he missed the tackle on him. I am definitely not sold on Doughty being our future at the SS position, but here is to hoping he proves me wrong because I am definitely rooting for the guy, but I think it is a long shot to think that he is going to be our future at SS.

Re: Reed Doughty: Excellent Tackler
Speaking of, Doughty had 2 in his hands last night. I won't start w/the Rogers comparisons yet, rather let's take a positive spin on it; these guys are young & are both trying to temper their energy & play w/in themselves. They are probably dropping passes due to their over excitedness (not a word I guess, but you get the point). Eventually, we'll see them get some picks.

Re: Reed Doughty: Excellent Tackler
I guess RD played well, but it's hard to say given the terrible winds last night. Everyone wants to say we're set at the safety position, but it's only one game. Let's just wait a little while longer.
I can't credit our defense too much. Other than the fumble by AC, the Giants mostly beat themselves with the dropped passes and the poor weather. Our offense played well, on the other hand. Speaking of tacklers, since LL came to the Redskins I think he's done a great job at tackling. So many guys today throw themselves at opponents and tuck their arms into their body. LL doesn't do that much, and he wraps up really well, IMO. I think his tackling technique is superb.

Re: Reed Doughty: Excellent Tackler
I'm glad that Reed was able to come in and take over the Strong Safety spot, so that Landry can roam centerfield like #21 used to do. Another quality game last night from Reed, led the team with 11 total tackles (7 solo, 4 assist) and 1 pass deflect.
