This is EXACTLY the key. I saw on some show (can't remember which one) in where, if you STICK AP early in the game (I don't know what a 'stick' is described, but imagine a Sean Taylor hit) his yards per carry after that are something like 2.0 or less.

It was a crazy stat, and they showed examples of people hitting him hard. He just gets frustrated and stops running hard.

well Landry has something for him!

Stop the run and load the box and the skins will do well.

Matty I think you nailed it on this one - according to NFL.com the Vikings are #32 (dead last) against the pass and #1 against the run.
NFL Stats: by Team Category

Plus I heard reports that Antoine Winfield may not play due to hamstring issues but I bet he makes an effort to get on the field Sunday because the playoffs are on the line.

1. Stop the Run (CT + AP -> Chasing Tacklers All Day).
2. Run the Ball (their two defensive tackles are starters on the pro bowl roster).

Exactly....I wasn't toooo impressed with the Vikings last night with the Bears hanging tough on a game the Vikings should of dominated. At this point of the season it's all about heart and confidence, hopefully they will wilt and question themselves, Skins are on a roll. Obviously stopping AP is the key, that guy is incredible...seems like he can switch to full speed on a dime. At least it doesn't seem like they do the screen play to him like Westbrook killed us. I hope we force them into passing...that QB will throw at least one pick....I don't know how much chance CP has against that run defense.....we should pull out the play action and dump offs to Cooley and Randle El. We need the lead early, shut up that crowd and take control...GO SKINS!....

Re: Keys to beating the Vikes

the defence has got to shut down peterson and taylor...that's the key. and i'll be there to see the game. sec. 105 row 17 seat 13... i can't wait my first game since 80 or 81 and with collins running the offence we're back in the playoff race.

1)Get ahead early and keep on it!-This is the most important thing because what I got from the game is T.Jackson is not a good passer. We need to get up and do it quick so the Viks are forced to play catchup. This will make Jackson throw alot, and make mistakes. We cannot let A.Peterson control this game.

2)Stop the run-Easier said than done. Take the Bears for example, they just played gaps well and did not over-pursue. We need to work on that because I feel like our D does over pursue at times.

3)Establish our run game-I mean we all saw last game. TC cannot play a 25+attempt passing game. he doesn't have the arm for it, and we need to help him with the run.
Good luck trying to run against Minn. It's not going to work. Collins can handle 25 + attempts if we can protect him. We will be playing indoors instead of 30 mile an hour winds. Moss and Cooley should be able to have big days.

I trust GW & co on this one. Usually they do a pretty good job of identifying the opponents strengths and eliminating them.

As for the O...score in the red zone...put up TD's as opposed to FGs.

Re: Keys to beating the Vikes

The keys to the game against the Vi-Queens.

1) Stop the run. They cannot let Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor get to the second and third levels. They need solid gap control and pursuit to the ball. Make Tavarius Jackson beat them. If I was Greg Williams, this would be the week that I would empty my bag of blitzes.

2) Have a good mix of pass and run. Pass on first down. Keep the Vi-Queen defense off-balance.

3) The offensive line needs to continue to open up holes for the running game and provide protection for Collins.

4) Blitz...blitz...and then blitz some more. Chase Jackson down like he was a 9/11 hijacker.
