I'm not debating that it wasn't earned, because the Skins have overcome tremendous odds. I use the word "backed" because of the fact that they lost 5 games this season when they had the lead in the 2nd half, and that it will take another string of wins in a row to make the postseason.

If the Skins win 1 of those 5, and continue their course, they would be sitting pretty with the 6th seed locked up. Win 2, and one could say they would be the 5th seed (especially if they take the 1st Giants game). So while they are on their way to earning the last playoff spot, they certainly took the hard way, or back door so to speak...
