I have not seen that "swarming" style of shutdown D in a long time. Maybe having Dex in the booth had a positive motivating effect? Dude is a maniac

I think back then they used to take yards lost on a sack off of the rushing totals. They didn't even keep sack statistics until the 80's(I think). They still do it that way in college. -53 yards is still very impressive but those stats are a little misleading.

Well... I have to agree with that. I would bet that Dallas was attempting to win playing fundamental football, but they probably held back a lot with the scheme knowing that they could have to face us in the playoffs. In that case, we did exactly what we should have done. We totally dominated them. That is not what they wanted to see. Now, whether they admit it or not, know that they will have their hands full if they see us again no matter what they held back.

I bet they put in just enough scheme that they thought they could get the individual accomplishments, which they couldn't, but it was evident by how long they left there starters in that they were very uncomfortable with how bad they were getting their butts kicked.

I think we are being billed as the hottest team in the NFC as the Pats are the hottest team in the NFL right now. Even if Dallas did not try that hard giving us a big win like that has really giving this team a big boost which will come back to haunt them.

In contrast I feel I need to point out that in 16 regular season games in 2007 for the Dallas Defense, NO single running back eclipsed 100 yards rushing for any single game.

Save one

Clinton Portis was the ONLY RB to get over 100 yards rushing against Dallas the entre season and he did it in the season finale.

Yea, CP asked Gibbs to let him back into the game so he could get the 3 yards he needed and he got 7.

Re: 1 yard rushing

Well, I don't believe that Dallas didn't try, but I do believe that their whole heart and soul wasn't into this game like it was for the Redskins. After all, they weren't playing for their playoff lives. A couple meaningless records is all they were playing for, and to go into the playoffs at least as healthy as they were entering the game. So, if the two teams do end up playing each other again in a couple weeks, we will see an entirely different game in Dallas. Probably something similar to the first game they played this season where it went down to the wire.

That being said, it was pretty stupid for Dallas not to try to knock the Skins out, because there isn't another team in the playoffs that will give them a better game than the Skins will.
