I leave for the annual Warpath Moderator Convention in the Caribbean on Thursday (strangely, I'm always the only Warpath Mod there), so I hope a decision is made by then.

Apparently Snyder's interviews are generally at least 10 hours. But that could mean over the course of all the interviews a person has

To clarify, however, I meant to express that I would be upset if Snyder opted to interview other minority options with less of a chance to actually get the job then Caldwell and Meeks (whom he apparently has a legitimate interest in; similar to that of Schwartz I would assume) simply to move the process along (in the event that the Colts had won earlier today). Obviously Snyder wanted to look at other options then Williams or else he would have arranged for him to succeed Gibbs without any competition, and if the minority options he looks into have a legitimate opportunity to make their case for the job I am all for it. If, however, the interview was given simply for compliance to the Rooney Rule it just seems to go against the very spirit of the rule. I will concede that whatever other minority options that may have been interviewed in place or Caldwell or Meeks could have benefited by simply gaining experience and perhaps more interest from teams in the future, but I still think it would be a shame to tarnish the good nature of the Rooney Rule by feigning interest in a candidate without a legitimate shot at becoming HC. Anyways, I am happy with the way things worked out. Now Meeks and/or Caldwell will be given a legitimate interview. Personally I hope Greg Williams gets the job, but more power to the guys if they can blow Snyder away. Either way I will be happy if this thing is finished quickly so that the proper adjustments to personnel can be made, and the new HC can begin to focus on getting this team ready for next season. |

Re: ESPN: Redskins to Interview G. Williams Today
Agreed, but did he get the INTERVIEW because of the Rooney rule or because he had a great rep? I thought he was kind of an unknown when they interviewed him. If that's the case, then you've got to say the Rooney rule performed its intended function.
