Re: Hmm...Mystery HC Candidate to Get Interview

College coaches SUCK! look at Carroll in his last coaching stint, Spurrier in Washington, Bobby Petrino in Atlanta, Butch Davis in Cleveland, Nick Saban in Miami etc etc. They are Spoiled by winning in College and cant get used to losing in the Pro's. They just dont last. Go with Greg Williams! No doubt about it.

Re: Hmm...Mystery HC Candidate to Get Interview

All of these flavor of the month O or D coordinators such as the Giants D coord, Pats o coord, Jason Garrett, and whoever else is hot right now, all haven't done anything over the coarse of a couple/few seasons right? No offense to anyone of them, they could be really good, but prove something to me over 3+ seasons before i annoint them as top coaching candidates.

If I'm not wrong each has been a coordinator for less than 2 years. Are they really ready for the tasks of a NFL head coach?

Again, I'm sorry for being repetitive but GW has proven over the long haul that he's ready.

JLC Redskin Insider: I don't think anyone mentioned Don Shula being in the hunt...LOL

I Need A Job Where I Can Just Make Things Up And Create The News

Ok, so now I'm getting the inbox blown up because some microphone jockey in NY has a big sccop about Peter Carroll. He's Mr ?, The Enigma, THE MYSTERY CANDIDATE. He's the next coach of the Skins.

No, he's not.

We talked to someone very close to Pete, who spoke directly with Pete today, in California, where Pete is recruiting. He is in not in DC. He did not get on a plane in Green Bay. He is not interested in the Redskins or any NFL job right now.

Maybe Carroll and Cowher and everyone else fall at Snyder's feet at some point, but nothing is cooking with them now. Same with Jimmy Johnson. He is not in DC. He is not talking to the Skins.

Jason Reid and I have been monitoring these guys daily and Jimmy did not leave the FOX set in Green Bay and jump on a plane here.

Somebody told me that the afternoon drive-time guy in Barbados is reporting Don Shula and Don Breaux will be co-head coaches next season, with Jack LaLanna taking over as trainer. Needless to say we're tracking it down

On espn Cowher said he wasnt going to coach in the NFL for 2008. Maybe Russ Grim?

"mystery candidate" maybe more people will buy expensive tickets if there is some "mystery" about the organization. This is silly, and annoying.

Re: Hmm...Mystery HC Candidate to Get Interview

I appologize for putting up the link to Redsk.1. I just thought it was interesting and for all we know it could have been anyone. Perhaps Snyder learned that a coach he was interested in was going to the game and he requested an interview after the game or today so he flies to GB to meet them. It does not mean it's anyone from ESPN or FOX or any one of the two teams coaches that played.

I know everyon is upset and edgy about who it will be but put yourself in Snyders shoes. If you owned a company and wanted the best that you could find at the time to manage your company you would. You would probubly be upset at people telling you to hurry up, and get er done, and pick so and so. It's his company. His toy. He will paint it what ever color he wants, dress it up how he wants and present it how he wants. We have no say. Although all the talking about which coach is better is kinda funny.

I just hope he makes an informed dicision about who he wants as the next coach and if it's statis quo then so be it. If it's change that is needed to breath new life into this team then so be it. I like both coaches we have now but I will say Saunders has gotten on my nerves with his dink and dunk/ screen play every other play and I am about fed up with Williams defense falling apart in the 4th quarters. Most teams are getting away from the style GW uses. What ever we do I hope the offense is not West Coast and I hope both sides of the ball are an attacking style.

Re: Hmm...Mystery HC Candidate to Get Interview

What bothers me about this whole coaching search is that it's reminiscent of the circus that was the Redskins under Snyder prior to Gibbs' return. I really hope the Danny doesn't screw this up.

Skins At The Senior Bowl/Fassel

Most of the Skins coaching staff is in Mobile at the Senior Bowl. Vinny Cerrato was supposed ot be there too, but I hear he cancelled at the last minute because of the prolonged coaching search.

Again, if you put a gun to my head and made me guess about the mystery candidate, I'd say Fassel. He's the only name I mentioned that Friday night when the first mystery meeting took place. I can't get it confimred, but I heard Snyder's plane might be returning back to Scottsdale tonight, which just happens to be where Fassel lives.

I do know Fassel was supposed to be driving his rental car back to Milwaukee today to take a commercial flight back to Arizona, and he may have jumped Redskins One to Chateau Snyder instead.

Again, can't get it confirmed but the name I kept hearing today was Fassel. He has a history with developing QBs like Elway and Simms, but bombed with Boller and the Ravens. Could be talking to him about coordinator-type positions as well, given that numerous league sources have told me that Snyder and Cerrato are down on Al Saunders. Faslle interviewed withthe Chiefs a week ago for their OC opening, but did not get it.

Anyway, Gregg Williams, Greg Blache and Joe Bugel are among the Redskins coaches not at the Senior Bowl, according to sources, which is not unusual. Joe Gibbs remains around Redskins Park, as he is expected to until they finish this transition, but is not taking part in the interviews

Re: Hmm...Mystery HC Candidate to Get Interview

Fossil instead of Saunders would be a mistake. We should go to Danny's house draft a sales receipt and threaten to kick his behind if he doesn't sell us the team. Then we could be a fan owned team and we can decide to keep Williams, Saunders, etc. I'm sick of all this rumors, leaks and BS. What is this crap? TMZ.com? Smokinggun.com? Enough already, I'm done reading all this rumor crap from insiders (Glazer, JLC, entertaiment tonight, extra, etc.) Go hire Tom Cruise or Oprah to run the team to the ground.

I hope that Fassel is not our head coach, and I hope he wull not take Saunders place. I hope he will be there to be a quarterback coach.

I would be totally stunned if Fassel became our head coach. The fact that his recent years in the NFL have been relatively unsuccessful suggests to me that he'd be a position coach, or at best a coordinator. Again, I worry about the old Parcells' adage- "too many cooks in the kitchen..."

Re: Hmm...Mystery HC Candidate to Get Interview

he didn't even get the KC offensive coordinator job...there is no way he is interviewing for a Head Coaching job...I would be shocked if he was hired here as a HC

Saunders was being conservative because of Gibbs and JC being young. The Saunders offense in KC was not conservative at all. They need to keep the guy and let him keep working with JC. Bringing in someone new is just going to set JC and the offense back.
