Assistant Coaching pool drying up....
Read an interesting article in the Washington Times today about how the assistant coaching pool is drying up and that this could be good news for current Redskin assistant coaches if Greg Williams was not named head coach. It almost seems like a blessing in disguise in that even if Synder goes outside to get a new coach, the new coach may not have many options and have to at least give most of the current staff a year to prove themselves!
Redskins' search continues*-*-*The Washington Times, America's Newspaper "And while Washington can afford to wait on its decision because no other team is looking for a coach, the new coaches in Atlanta, Baltimore (John Harbaugh) and Miami (Tony Sparano) are assembling staffs. That could make it tough for whomever the Redskins hire to land the assistants he wants." |

I wouldnt worry about it, you cant hire people laterally so usually you are making a QB coach an of cordinator or a line backers coach the D cordinator. So at that poitn you are just trying to convince someone they would rather work for the skins than their current team

Re: Assistant Coaching pool drying up....
At the same time 2 of our key coaches (Byner and Olivadotti) contracts expire on 1/31 and if we don't have a coach in place by then, we risk losing them to another team. Both are on the rise type of coaches.

Sfredskin, I aggree, Something has to happen by next Thursday. Even if Vinny is in charge of all things football for the Skins right now, doesn't Free agency start soon? Don't you want your NEW Coach involved in those decisions? Oh wait, we have Vinny and Snyder, they make all of those decisions, I forgot!

McDaniels removed himself from consideration for the Ravens and Falcons jobs, saying he wasn't sure if he felt ready to be a head coach. Don't know why we'd even bother to interview him. But yeah, we're in for a wait on this if we want to interview either of those guys.
