The only reason why he would be so supportive of Brunell is that he has NO confidence in Ramsey??? I guess...

gibbs has a history of being way too loyal to QBs, even when they really really suck...

I am not defending Brunell but as for the Gibbs comments about the line play. There are only a handful of situations each day when you can get a big play. The coaches know which plays they are and if the protection breaks down and that play they worked all week on never develops they know it. We don't know it, but they do. All we see is that most of the times he dropped back he had decent time to throw, but coaches look at things from a totally inside perspective. Like the betts missed block last week. gibbs said that could have been a big play for us if the blocking held up.

he did have 2-3 deep shots, and he had open receivers, and he blew them all with time to spare. it doesn't matter until he can make them work...

That's a good point that things happen on the field that we don't always see or know about.

For instance in the preseason game against the Rams when our D got shredded. On the surface it looked like our D stunk, when in reality Williams brought in the reserves up front, eased off the pressure and left the DB's on an island.

Point is alot of things happen behind the scenes that the casual observer just isn't going to pick up on.

One other thing has to happen besides blocking if we are to get a big play down field, Ramsey has to be the guy throwing it.

How was the blocking when he threw the ball 5 yd's out of bound's, to a wide open Coles? That could have been a big play if Brunell's arm didn't break down.
