(updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)

Alright, it's a new day, so that means that I have to change my mock draft picks for the first two rounds.

1st - Brandon Albert G/T - Virginia - While Albert isn't my most wanted player from Virginia he's surely in demand. At this point I think that this is our safest pick in the draft. If I remember correctly he played his senior year at LG which is great because we weren't able to run to the Left side like we were when Dockery was there. He also has the potential to play LT, which could come in handy should Samuals get hurt (knock on wood). Personally I think he could get to Randy Thomas's peak level in three years. The best part is he has no injury concerns that I know about.

Pat Sims - DT - Auburn - At a draft deep along the DL Sims is a solid pick. Thats assuming that he even makes it to this spot. The good news is we could have Kentwan Balmer fall to us in this spot, but right now it looks like Sims is a 2nd round pick and from what I've heard the next best Interior DL at this point in the draft. I like how he explodes off the line and gets pressure on the QB. This could also continue the Auburn thing we got going though that didn't work out nearly as well as the U thing that has been the party line of recent palyer acquisitions.

Alternate 1st Round Picks
Kenny Phillips - S- Miami - A lot of experts have him down as one of the ten best players in the draft. I like the fact they he has athletism and on top of that he's probably the safest pick for us in the draft (save Albert).

Phillip Merling - DE - Clemson - The guys a complete player and he definately fills a need at end. However in a class thats exploding with depth on the DL I feel like we can afford to wait. Espcecially with our front office's ability to find talent after the 1st round. It's not that I don't like Merling, its just that I see Albert and Phillips as future Pro-Bowl caliber players.

Lawrence Jackson - DE - USC - Guys a disruptive force coming off the Left side. In my opinion he seems like more of a boom or bust type. He's one of the few prospects with 10 plus sacks and he played in a great offensive conference. Durability is a concern. Also don't know enough about his ability to stop the run.
