Ironically OTA's might be even more important in the near future for young and new players alike (new meaning URFA). With the NFL possibly expanding the regular season by one game while subtracting 2 preseason games the young guys will have little time to work with the coaches.
It's not unusual for a veteran to skip out on OTA's and for some reason go to Arizona to train. As a a result the backups get more work with the coaches, which is valuable because when the season roles around 80% of the reps will go to the starters. Of course I'm estimating on the 80%, but in reality most of their football will be played on the scout team.
