Organizations put those things in place primarily to protect thier investments in the players. They hire some of the best trainers and conditioning coaches in the world to do one thing....get them ready for 16-plus games of pounding that thier bodies are going to take.

If you look around the league the past few seasons, you will remember all of the little nagging hammys, quads, aches, pains and strains that sidelined players week in and week out. Teams that had those issues had players that "worked out on thier own" and did not participate in the off-season programs.

But the majority of teams whose players participated at team facilities in the off-season, thier injury list was substantially smaller throughout the season, for the most part.

So yeah I think there is a good place for OTA's and off-season programs, and players should take advantage of it.

Maybe so, but that's not say OTA's prevent those nagging injuries. The Redskins are the kings of hammy injuries, especially last year when we had near perfect attendance during OTA's.
