C'mon guys. I know we're in the dog days but more Farve talk??? He's not coming back. Dan Patrick is trying to stir up some non-sense but it's just stupid. Green Bay has moved on and turned the page.

re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)

He's done. Let him go. I've always enjoyed watching Favre play but the whole 'will he or won't he', 'is he done, really really and for true done' saga has made me sick of him. Just go away already and the media should just let it go. Isn't there anything else they can beat into the ground?

re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)

I wouln't be to upset if he comes back and I'm one of the those who believes he could be back if Rodgers go down. I know it's unlikely and I guess it could be that I don't want to let go but still I can't wait to see how Rodgers does and to see what happens with this whole "will Favre come back" thing. I would love to see him play again but then again I wouldn't want to see him as one of those guys who stuck around a little longer then he should have...

Thanks Angry. This is the article that I posted in response to. Figured everyone read ProFootballTalk.com. Great site. Shoulda included my source for speculation. Wasn't trying to create a dumbass thread, just trying to comment on current article from a fairly reputable site.

Great and especially reputable aren't exactly adjectives many would use with PFT. Regardless, you should have been more specific with the first post. Don't just assume everyone knows what you're referring to.

Rodgers seems to be fragile.

One phone call from ANYONE on the team to Brett and he'll show up in shoulder pads.

He can't stay away, it was tough enough for him to leave. I bet he's staying in shape.

re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)

I don't doubt that Brett still wants to play, but I feel Chris Mortensen's report (which is what SS was alluding to) is more based on Favre simply thinking out loud than actually changing his position.

If Favre tells the Packers he isn't retiring after all, I think there's only one correct way for the Packers to handle it: Make him come to training camp and put him at No.2 on the preseason depth chart. This has to be Aaron Rodgers' job to lose. I think Brohm is the future there anyway, so if there is a time for Rodgers: its right now.

The other two options are: release Brett Favre, or start him from day one. If you start him, I think you have to let Rodgers go at the end of the season. If you release him and he plays elsewhere, there is going to be a mutiny in Wisconsin.

This seems like a complicated issue with a simple solution: Brett Favre should just move on.

Yeah I'm hearing on the radio that his family is pushing him to play and that he also has the "itch" to play. I hope Green Bay closes the door on him. If he wants to be the QB then isn't it a good idea to be there during all the camps and off season stuff?? Farve is a classic example of someone who doesn't know how to do anything else with his life, and hasn't planned for life after football. The GB coaches must be so sick of this crap. I know I am.

I loved Brett Favre when he played, but I really hope he just stays in retirement. And if he does come back I would hate to see GB re-sign him. They have been saying that Aaron Rogers is the man all offseason and then they are just going to turn around and re-sign Favre? Give me a break. It's time to let it go Brett.

Favre really needs to just stop talking lol. He's fucking retired and we're still hearing news about him, it's annoying already. Just make a decision and stick with that decision.

re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)

Two days ago I thought this thread was, in Schneed's parlance, f...ing retarded; now it's bordering on prescient.

I think that, well I understand Favre's itch to get back to competing, given his position and the nature of the team's transition to a new younger general the negatives of his return would be significant. Unless you are convinced you can win the Superbowl with Favre, and the Packers are good but I'm not convinced of that, he needs to stay retired for the good of the team and his successor.

I guess this thread was worth it after all.

Never say never, especially when it comes to Favre.
