Re: Favre to the Jets

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the deal. Why would the Jets agree to a 2nd rounder (if he plays 70% of the snaps and makes the playoffs), or 1st rounder (80% of snaps and makes the SB) for only a one year rental? The Jets HAVE to believe that they will make the playoffs with this deal, otherwise, what's the point of hurting the development of Clemens? Did Favre secretly agree to play at least 2 years? Did he agree to mentor Clemens (something he publicly refused to do with Rogers)? I suppose the Jets are just plain dumb, but logic would suggest otherwise. Favre is old and having to learn a new system will not be easy, so year 1 would be a learning process. A struggle from Favre would be expected...so again why give up a good high pick for one year? Does anyone else out there think he committed to a longer term?
