Sucks to be as stupid as he is to even consider playing.

He will be ready for next year. BTW, McMullen signed to the Seahawks.

Man that a shame, I liked McMullen alot. Thought he played better than any reciever that we had.

Well hopefully he'll avoid the misfortunes of the other WRs in Seattle this year, what with Engram, Branch, and Burleson all out for a while.

As for Merriman, I can't help but wonder what he would have decided had the Chargers pulled off a week 1 victory.

The Seahawks cut one WR today and so they have only two WRs on the roster.

He was was wise for shutting down his season. Otherwise he would be like Lavar Arrington. We never know how good Lavar would have been if he had taken better care of his own body. Not that he was in bad shape, but I think that Lavar was probably concerned that he was going to be edged out and continued to play on bad knees.

Still don't see what the harm is in going out there and trying his knee in a real game before shutting it down.

Y'know, maybe he went out there and played on it, and could have gotten 4 sacks of Delhomme and defended a few passes and we would have been like "is this guy really injured?" Instead he tried it, and realized that his effectiveness was compromised, so he hung it up. I think he did everything in his power to help his team, including giving up when he could not do so, and should be commended for it.

thats exactly what i thought too! except its a stretch to connect steriod use with ligaments but it looks like steriods do make the body all around brittle.

I agree with you Gtripp, he came out gave it a go and found out he couldnt contribute like he wanted to so he shut it down. maybe he should have not played at all but he gave it a test and made his own and right decisions to shut it down for the year. kinda similar to JT giving it a go against the giants, see how it responds and if you dont feel comfortable then pull yourself out.

go skins!

Re: Shawn Merriman's Season Is Over

You know it may have been a stupid decision, but he has guts...i wish our players would go ou tand have the balls to play with torn ligaments, and not sideline them selves over a damn "calf bruise" (yes springs you are a great corner but also a big pussy)
