In this case I think we have a different definition of what a starter is. I define a starter as someone who takes care of his assignments and rarely makes mistakes, yet rarely if ever dominates. Doughty fits that mold.

To be even more specific I adhear (spelling?) to the scout.com definition of average starter, which Doughty fits perfectly, and ironically it's also his rating from scout.com

A valuable roster player but is not dominant against the better players he faces on a week-to-week basis... Gives great effort and you are glad that he is on your team, but he may or may not go to the next level.
