Re: NFC Beast Rules

So as I procrastinate on the stuff that I have to do, I was curious to see the performance of the NFC East up until this week, here's what I found:

Dallas (3-0)
vs. Browns (0-3/10-6) Won 28-10 (+12)
vs. Eagles (2-1/8-8) Won 41-37 (+4)
vs. Packers (2-1/13-3 Won 27-16 (+11)
Opponents Record (‘08/’07): 4-5/31-17

New York (3-0)
vs. Redskins (2-1/9-7) Won 16-7 (+9)
vs. Rams (0-3/3-13) Won 41-13 (+28)
vs. Bengals (0-3/7-9) Won 26-23 (+3)
Opponents Record (‘08/’07): 2-7/19-29

Philadelphia (2-1)
vs. Rams (0-3/3-13) Won 38-3 (+35)
vs. Cowboys (3-0/13-3) Lost 37-41 (-4)
vs. Steelers (2-1/10-6) Won 15-6 (+9)
Opponents Record (‘08/’07): 5-4/26-22

Washington (2-1)
vs. Giants (3-0/10-6) Lost 7-16 (-9)
vs. Saints (1-2/7-9) Won 29-24 (+5)
vs. Cards (2-1/8-8) Won 24-17 (+7)
Opponents Record (‘08/’07): 6-3/25-23

I think all the teams in the NFC East have performed somewhat equally early in the season. Granted that both Dallas and NY are undefeated, however, since all the teams have only played 3 games, I see the records of all them very similar.

In looking at the current record of the opponents that the NFC East teams have played, the Redskins opponents have the best record (6-3), while the Giants' opponents have the worst (2-7). Since we're early in the season, I looked at the opponents' record from last year; the Cowboys opponents have the best record (31-17), while the Giants' opponents have the worst (19-29).

The win/loss margin for all the teams have been in the single digits, with the exception of the Cowboys win margin, and the beatings that Philly and NYG put on the Rams.

The NFC is East is shaping out to be a tough and pretty even division. I think our Redskins have a lot to prove, and a win against the Cowboys would show the critics that the NFC is not a three-team race. Yet despite the media that Philly, Dallas and NY are getting, I do see all four teams of our conference playing good football.
