RI: Skins by the Numbers
The Redskins have risen to sixth in the NFL in total offense, fifth in rushing yards per game and 12th in passing offense. Jason Campbell remains the only starting QB who has not thrown an interception. The Skins and undefeated Titans remained tied for the league lead with a plus-6 turnover ratio.

All I've got to say is Wow. Pretty impressive thus far. We've had a brutal schedule thus far and still show good #'s.

The ToP in the last game was amazing, as were the number of plays called. Talk about ball control! And we've been playing some top-flight Ds--did you see what philly did to Pitt? Good stuff. Very excited about it.

Re: RI: Skins by the Numbers
I was frustrated watching the game yesterday because we weren't taking any shots. After watching the game again this morning, I now know that Philly was playing scared. They had 2 guys on Moss for most of the game and they rolled their safeties to prevent the big play. It was a nice adjustment by Zorn to go to Cooley and the run game even with them showing 8 man fronts. Zorn said in his press conference today that our motto is 'attack'. It just shows that teams are finally respecting Jason Campbell and our passing game. Beautiful.

Re: RI: Skins by the Numbers
Where are the people questioning JC's progression to a top-tier QB now? His confidence and overall play this year kind of reminds me of Roethlisberger's first season when he didn't necessarily light up the fantasy stats, but he had excellent field leadership, didn't make mistakes, and just won games, sometimes ugly if he had to.
Overall I have this feeling that we're just going to pull it out when I watch this team operate, a feeling I haven't had since the mid-90's. When it's third and long, I expect us to convert, and even when we don't, it doesn't feel like we never had a chance. That's such a huge change from the past few years, where I felt like we were always going to depend on some kind of act of God or a lucky big play to put us over the hump.

Re: RI: Skins by the Numbers
^^^ well i was starting to doubt JC had what it takes to go from good to elite so i guess im right here. in my defense i also firmly held the idea that JC had this year and next to prove himself elite and that zorn should help in his development . . i didnt give up on JC but i was starting to doubt he could analyze Ds presnap and make the proper reads, not locking on his primary guy etc. . . i was guilty.
My concern now is portis' workload. he led the league in carries last year with over 300 attempts and we all know how hard he ran and how many touches he got during our playoffs pushes the past few years. now hes ran i think 27 times against philly and generally has been relied upon to carry the heavy work load in the 4th quarter when we go on these 10 min clock eating possessions. we all know portis only knows how to play one way (see td saving tackle in 1st preseason game 2 years ago), and thats hard and physical, but i do hope betts can take up some of the work on these long time killing drives. anyone else alil worried about our boy portis taking on such a heavy work load so early in the season after what hes been ask to do the past few years? go skins!! |

Re: RI: Skins by the Numbers
yeah imo betts is good about getting low and falling forward which is what you want when your running the clock out . . .of course he does fumble the occasional ball which would be unacceptable late in a 1 possession game.
idk, id like to see a 20-10 split if the score allows. with the way things are shaping up so far i want a relatively fresh CP coming into the end part of the season compared to seasons past. go skins!! |
