With JLC I'm kind of torn apart. During the coaching search for example he was golden. On more then one occasion I have emailed him thanking him for all the hard work he's put into the blog and he's always emailed me back. In fact he took the time to answer a question from me concerning a trade for Lions DT/DE Cory Redding during last years offseason.

However the grudges that JLC and other members of the Post seem to hold towards the organization is doing no one any good. If Mike Brown can't be driven out of Clevland then what makes anyone think that Snyder can be driven out of DC. I say just report on the team and when they really do screw up, call them out on it. The recent blog entry with the angry fan would have went over a lot better with me if I couldn't tell the Post's writers were bias (for the most part, Wilbon, Wise, and Kornheiser are all right in my book).

Personally, this just means I will have more questions answered concerning player personnel. So far now that "Cerrats" is the man, I like what he has done. People criticize the Jason Taylor deal, but it was necessary. I think his real challenge lies ahead in the next couple of years with all of the money and mistakes they've made in the past.
I agree. Some of the bad decisions of the last 5 years have his name on them though. I like what he did this past offseason, but he did offer 2 picks for Chad Ocho Cinco reportedly. Those picks were reported to be either 2 first rounders or a 1st and a high round second pick. The Bengals declined.

But yea, it's just kind of odd. Not a huge deal, just odd.

I have been quite critical of Vinny, but I must say I would rather listen to him than Cowherd. I believe that ESPN affiliates are required to carry Mike and Mike, but not C.C., so I say Vinny should go daily.

As for J-La, these other club executives he blabs with always seem to come through with the anti-Redskins goods on demand. If I were a league executive I would be loathe to provide such quotes to another team's hometown newspaper. I mean, I don't think it would be proper for Redskins people to anonymously slam the Ravens in the Baltimore Sun, for example. I mean talk about wasting your precious time. If this guy is so busy, why is he blabbing with La Canfora?

Plus we're not talking about his entire day or week. You don't think maybe, just maybe, he's got time outside of his radio show to work on the Redskins? This idea that he can't do his job or isn't doing his job because of this, or when he appears with Larry Michael on Redskin Radio, or when he eats dinner, or takes his dog for a walk is insane.
I've heard people in radio say that for every hour you're on the air, you should expect to spend an hour doing show prep. Otherwise you're going on the air with no plan, you wind up babbling, and the end result is that your show doesn't sound very good.

I'm not sure the press conference analogy works, because I believe the NFL requires it.

Obviously these people have a life outside of work. And who knows how Vinny schedules his day during the regular season? I can appreciate those who question whether this is the best use of his time though. According to Andy Polin and Steve Czaban on the Sports Reporters yesterday afternoon, they said that five other general managers across the NFL, including Bill Polian, do a radio or TV show of this nature.

All in all, given his track record in personnel management over the years, Vinny had to understand that doing something like this would be frowned upon. Generally speaking, I don't like the idea, but it's not something that will keep me awake at night.

As someone who has worked in radio, I can tell you that that every hour for an hour is somewhat accurate. Except this show is mainly about football which is what VC spends a good chunk of his time working on anyway. So I don't think it's that huge a deal.

If you are not currently listening to Vinnie's show on Mon and Fri 10-12, you are missing a good show. Good guests (today it was Jaws reviewing the Mon night game). BTW, Jaws MVP pick for first half is our own JC.
Plenty of local call in Q & A. Much insight into the team not readily available outside the Skins family. It is solid, and entertaining. VC does a good job as host
