I'm fully aware we are in a lease at FedEx Field and it will be time before plans to move back to DC can begin but this is just to see how many signatures we can get. Even if it wouldn't work, it'd be cool to see a petition with 100,000 saying we want back in Washington D.C.

Snyder will not ever think about going back to DC proper. Why would he? Outside of the White House, Capitol, Mall, DC almost rivals Detroit in being a shitty, dangerous locale. DC is the only city, other than Gary Indiana, that has ever unseated Detroit as the murder capital of America in the last 20 years. The only saving grace with Ford Field is that it is right across from the Wayne Co courts and Juvenille detention center and Greektown, the only safe spot in the city, as cops abound there.

Thats why they don't show those replays of "fumbles" or out of bounds catches or "was he down" because you can't see it any darn way so why bother!

And bringing the skins back to the city so I can get hammered at the game and then take an affordable taxi back home makes it worth it right there! I mean, have you ever tried to take a Maryland cab into Virginia? They don't even know what exit you're talking about! They don't even know what the "mixing bowl" is!!!!

Don't get me wrong, Fed Ex Field is nice. I've had some really good memories there, but the Washington Redskins belong in Washington DC.
I hear you, but the needed improvements that FedEx field needs are no reason to cram a new stadium expense down the throats of the season ticket holders. You don't throw away a car that works becasue the tires are flat. If they can do it without passing any of the cost on to me then i am fine with it but that's not reality. And you said you would pay a $1000...I would pay that too if it came down to it but what if it were 5 or 10,000 per seat. I am not sure I could aford that and the thought of being forced out after waiting over 20 years for my tickets sucks.

Re: Petition to Move Redskins back to Washington DC.

I've heard through the grapevine that people in DC's economic development staff are very keen on the idea, hence the WashPost article Daseal posted in this thread. I've also heard that it's just a matter of time and that the Danny ultimately wants to do it.

This is certainly a LONG term idea, not even a plan, at this point. But it makes sense for everybody if DS can get a good deal, seat #s, covered stadium, etc. I think the crucial question will be in the timing; by the time it could actually happen (at least 5-10 years) will DC have the leadership & economics to support it?

I think DS will be more than willing to leave fedex if the team continues to gain no advantage there. He's into his $, but he also wants to win badly.

As for those that think DC is a "dangerous" city, I bet you haven't been in a while or taken a look at the demographics lately. Though it has its rough spots, DC is no longer full of potential revitalization projects. So many neighborhoods have been gentrified and a lot of poor people have left for Prince Georges (not applauding this, just stating a fact). Its infrastructure is in pretty good shape, and the Metro is still a great public transit system.

Take a look at the trends in stadium/arena building; a lot of cities have rejuvenated areas by building facilities & then encouraging private entertainment around them. DC has done this w/the Verizon Center for the Wizards, who moved from where? ... ugly ass Landover.

Re: Petition to Move Redskins back to Washington DC.

I'm sure people will correct me if I'm wrong here but alot of the value of the Skins is in the stadium that they own(real estate).DS would have to sell off Fed Ex but the value of the property will go down so if the Skins leave the area,kinda.... catch 22.He would need top dollar to 1) pay off PG county and the state for the infrastructure improvements 2) then pay D.C for property and more infrastructure 3) and for the Stadium it's self.DS is a wealthy man but 6 Flaggs is not doing well right now and what would you do with the old stadium,a new Mall was built right across the Beltway so it won't be that UM and the Ravens(have their own) or Navy won't touch it ...to much over head.

Celts -- Fact is, if you don't want to shoulder the extra cost -- there are thousands upon thousands of others on the season tickets list willing to pay a bit more for tickets. Not saying it's good, but as long as he can still sell the seats, Snyder will be fine with it.

I full expect the Skins to be back in DC within the next twenty years, and that's a conservative estimate.

They would'nt pay the money to see the Steeler game ,what makes you think the'll pay PSL's of around $20,000 a seat?

Absolutely...I was just pointing out how a new stadium is not exactly a good thing for the season ticket holders. Hopefully when it eventually does happen I will be in a position to foot the bill.

Is there a way to build a new stadium but limit it to like 60,000 seats, and make it so that season ticket holders need to take a test and yearly loyalty oaths before they get their tickets?
Tough to do but I like the idea, maybe set aside one endzone or some part of of for the ultimately dedicated fans where they gotta take a test, they do this in Europe a lot. I feel like a move is possible mainly because landover wants the land back.
