Re: If You Ran the Redskins...
"I think we need to move back to RFK, or build a new stadium that resembles it or others like the rose bowl, with rows of bleachers. The more you upgrade the more tickets will cost and you want lower ticket prices to get the true fans back in the stadium."
Nice idea, but not financially feasible. You need luxury boxes and club seating in multiple tiers to generate revenues in the NFL. In this bad economy, no civic government is probably going to fund a new stadium for us when Fedex is only 11 years old and not obsolete by any means. "What are we giving up to move up?? We need to trade down to recoup picks." I think we need to get one of the "Big 4" tackles in this draft: Oher, A. Smith from Bama, J. Smith from Baylor, or Eugene Monroe, and it's not guaranteed that any of those guys will still be available at 13. "Agree, but Jacobs is more of a smash mouth back like Portis, we need a speedster." CP is kind of a hybrid, he doesn't possess the elite breakaway speed he used to have, but I think he could be complemented by either a speedy gamebreaker like Sproles or a total smashmouth back like Jacobs. Either one would take the load off of him some and make our offense a little more multi-faceted. As it stands now, I'll pay for the moving service if another team will take Betts of our hands. |

Re: If You Ran the Redskins...
Well, I guess it will depend on how far we need to move up. If you're San Fran at 10, and you're set on Malcolm Jenkins and can still get him at 13, do you swap the picks plus a 2010 late round pick? (4,5, or 6) I don't know, and I don't really have a concept for how trade values like that are quantified, but I think it's important we get one of the elite O-lineman in this draft to rebuild our line much like the selection of Chris Samuels did 9 years ago.

Re: If You Ran the Redskins...
To hell with Washington. Move the team to Richmond. That would have a nice ring to it, Richmond Redskins. AHHHH Ha ha ha! I know I just pissed off a lot of people. Get over it! Virginia is Redskins Country, Hands down!
Back to reality. That (line / post) sounds good: Duke Robinson, Jordan Cross, Rinehart, and Mack. You could also keep some of our vets as back ups. If they did come in they'd be healthy, fresh, and experienced. I don't think we could get Mack and Robinson without trading up. Both seem to be figured to go in the first or second round, we've only one pick in the first, and we're not the only ones who are looking at them. I don't think Brandon Jacobs will come to Washington. If he does leave NY then he'll go to Pittsburgh or New England. I was just thinking. We don't have to blow everything in the draft or free agency. There's a lot of talent all over the place. How about we look on some top college Rugby teams? It's basically the same game without the pads. Those boys know how to hit, scratch and claw for every inch, and aren't affraid to lose a tooth or five. What about the other FutBol? Have you ever seen one of those guys kick a ball off? They can put a soccer ball on the mark from all the way down field. What's a fifty yard field goal to them besides easy? Kicker problem solved at a third of the cost. That's if we can't get Shane Lechler. To me it makes sense to look outside of the box. Nascar is using college football players for their pit crews now because of their accuracy, speed, and strength. Why can't we get a Canadian hockey player to get down an dirty in the NFL? I miss a good NFL brawl. It would be cheaper and there aren't that many teams or scouts looking in that direction. Last edited by Trample the Elderly; 01-04-2009 at 12:27 AM. |
