You're right. I mean let's look at the past four years

2004: 5-11
2005: 11-5 (eliminated in Wild Card round)
2006: 4-12
2007: 9-7 (lose 3 of last 4 but still make the playoffs...only to get eliminated in WC round
2008: 9-7 (lose last 4 games to miss the playoffs)
