There's the million dollar (actually more literally) phrase. The DP is replaceable Cristian Bale is not. Both from a talent/star stand-point and practically. They can't stop shooting in the middle and start over with a new actor even if they wanted. What needs to happen is that Hollywood has to stop hiring actors who do this.

Sort of like Wall Street needs to stop hiring certain jackasses who want to steal everyone blind... not gonna happen in both cases.
