Someone made a good post earlier in which they said Snyder was doing the agent a favor by mtg. w/him. Drives AH's price up.

This may be rumor derived from that mtg. Reminds me of when Samari Rolle's agent said the skins were going to sign him in 05 w/15 mil guaranteed. Didn't happen.

I actually remember that. Its a possibility. Again profootballtalk is not the most reliable source. They might just be putting pressure on the Titans.

Does this mean no D. Hall? What about Canty? Since we're turning into fantasy football, how 'bout this front seven:

D-Line: Carter, Haynesworth, Monty/Golston, Canty
LBs: J.Taylor, Fletch, Rocky

Sounds pretty good to me.

I would sure hope this is BS. Haynesworth would be a disaster. An injured disaster.

Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins

So let me get this straight.... The skins are going to sign Haynesworth to a deal where he would make more than what Payton Manning per year? If reports are true, almost 1/7th of the teams entire salary will be devoted to a guy approaching 30 years old, who hasn’t started a full seaason in his 7 year career, who was spotted driving his car over 100mph two day after going on probation for reckless driving, and whose performance is expected to drop dramatically once he signs a big contract. He was nothing special his first 5 years in the league.... even now, he only averages one sack every 2 games.

If this report is true, it will seriously test my loyalty as a fan.

Of course this is just based on some dude with a blog in Houston. Also, how long have you been a fan? I mean after all the disasters the team has had, I think all of our loyalties have been tested time after time.

this would top all the disasters of the past though. I guess for me, ive always deluded myself with the idea that things would get better, that Snyder has learned something... this tells me the owner of the team i love only cares about one thing - selling jerseys. And it tells me that the owner of the team i love cares more about making money than he does about winning. Why should we invest our time, money, and "heart" into something thats just using us for our money without trying to give us anything of value in return. we deserve more than that, dont we?

Ive been a redskins fan my entire life. My father raised me as a redskin fan, we stayed redskins fans, even when everyone else around us in NC switched and became panthers when that franchise started. i always thought when i had kids, id raise them as redskins fans too. maybe, im responding more with my emotions than with my head to this... but isnt being a fan about emotions in the first place?

if this rumor is true, and we do sign haynesworth to a contract that large (at the expense of addressing other positions on this team), itll truly make me question whether this team under its current ownership deserves to have me as a fan.

What bothers me about this deal is FO negotiating forever with Hall to save maybe 2M and pay him 12M instead of 14M. which would have probably sealed the deal a few weeks ago. But would see no problem in giving HWorth 100M. This can't be real.

It's true that Haynesworth probably isn't worth what he will command on the open market, but he does fill the need of impact player that we have. Hall doesn't fill that role. Hall is pretty replaceable talent.

This is exactly what is wrong. You directly correlate numbers and stats with how good a player is. You should try watching film of this guy. It's no coincidence that when I woke up this morning and flipped on ESPN, Merril Hoge was talking about how A.H. doesn't have the #'s, but he is a beast and consistently draws double teams anywhere he is lined up, thus freeing up OTHER players for mismatches and sacks, etc... If all he does for us is draw double teams and makes opposing D coordinators game plan against him, I don't care if he has 1 sack a year, he's doing his job and is well worth the money. It's not always about whats on paper, but what a player can do for your team.

gotta agree, measuring a DT's performance solely by sack totals is backwards and completely inaccurate. the best way to judge his impact would be to check the titans and skins total sack numbers from last year and this year (if he were to come)... you might see a 100%+ increase (from 24 to 50ish) here.

I mean, it really would be that drastic. but again, you'd basically have to cut everyone that's cuttable to get him here, and you'd lose some of our FAs as well (and jason/etc wouldn't get new deals since there'd be no money this year or next for it unless the cap goes away, which again, is 50/50).
