On wide plays you need a reasonably fast DE to either make the play or absorb the blocking so that the LB can make the play. If you have a slow DE, running teams like the Giants will just run around you all day long. And as much as I like AH, he makes for a slow DE. AH's natural habitat is on the inside. Except on mix-it-up pass rushing downs, I think it would reduce his overall contribution to make him play too much on the outside.
