Watch a little video on the guy, he doesn't look to bust-worthy to me. Definitely less risky than Orakpo or Maybin. |

If this gets done, San Francisco might have made the biggest improvement of the offseason. They need a guy like Quinn more than Cleveland does, and what a great contract exchange that would be for them.

Just to be clear it's not just Quinn for the 10th, there would be other picks involved as well.

Cleveland, of course, should probably still take Crabtree at No. 5, but they'll go with Sanchez. Gotta get their "guy", you know?

I think it's a swap of 2nd rounders. Quinn and their 2nd for the 10th and whatever the Niners have in the 2nd round.

Would you say the deal is more likely than not to be completed at this point? Seems like if they are hammering down the gritty details, this would be more than a rumor.

Re: A New "Who would you draft?" Exercise
Good question. I would say at this point it's more likely than not. The Niners, supposedly, are going around saying Quinn or bust at QB which hurts their position obviously in any trade negotiation. I thought for sure they wanted Sanchez but apparently not so much.

Quinn makes so much sense for them because the Browns would pay all of the deferred signing bonus, meaning they basically have Quinn at backup prices. He's the de-facto starter, but that's money they aren't investing in the 10th overall pick, which is not a good position in this draft, it seems. Damon Huard, I think, will be cut before he ever dresses for them. Shaun Hill will probably stay on as the primary backup. Cleveland could come out of this deal with two elite players, but nothing Kokonis or Mangini have done yet makes me think they have any idea what it takes to win in this league, so they'll probably just reach twice.

I like E. Brown a lot. He is a smart guy & will develop & adapt his game to the nfl given time. I don't like Orakpo due to his durability issues. I think long-term Brown could be a Charles Mann type player; a beast on the field while well spoken & smooth off it. Good character & work ethic, stayed in school a year after being draft eligible & graduated in 3.5 years. If the top 4 OTs are off the board & EB is there, I'd be happy if the skins call his #. |
