They are trying to shore up the LB core for the future.
The FO knows that next year's draft will be heavy in future needs, so they are locking down a foundation, something We haven't seen since CCasserly was GM. it's a good look, especially when you have reasonably young talent locked up aka Hall for 6, AH, Horton, Landry, etc.
