I wouldn't expect Hackett or Washington to become immediate contributors even if they are signed. There's a reason they are free agents. Are they not "gimpy" and/or "suspect wide receivers?" Hackett is injury prone and heading for his 3rd team in 3 years, and Washington has yet to stick anywhere. Just b/c they've been around the league longer doesn't make them safer bets than our 2nd year WRs.

I agree that you shouldn't be given a roster spot simply b/c of your draft position. But the WR position more often than not takes time to translate from success in college to success in the NFL. There are exceptions like Jackson (philly), Avery (st.louis), and Royal (denver) who were given the chance to start right away and had some success. But you don't draft two guys in the 2nd round and then cut the cord right away b/c they aren't immediate hits.

However I think either Hackett or Washington could be an upgrade over Thrash, for the record.
