Re-Grading the 2006 Draft
Re-grading 2006 Draft: Casserly's big score now apparent - NFL - CBSSports.com Football
They say that you can't really judge a draft until three years later, so let's take a peek back at the 2006 draft. |

I love how the Cowpukes whiffed at this draft...

Re: Re-Grading the 2006 Draft
Yes! I think the Cowpies might be waning this year in part because of this feeble draft.

Re: Re-Grading the 2006 Draft
Looks like they did it again this year. They have skyrocketed to mediocrity!

McIntosh, Montgomery, Golston, Doughty from '06.
The only one not worthy of a roster spot is Doughty imho.

Re: Re-Grading the 2006 Draft
They are not taking into account that Jason campbell accounted for our 1st round pick that year (traded in 2004 to draft him). If he pans out, then our draft was pretty good.

Re: Re-Grading the 2006 Draft
It was actually 2005 but you make a good point.

Re: Re-Grading the 2006 Draft
If you look at his grades and comments immediately after that draft (link on the page) you'll see how foolish it is to grade a draft before these guys even go thru a rookie camp. He annointed Matt Lienart, Laurence Maroney and Vernon Davis as 'great players'. How'd that work out?

Re: Re-Grading the 2006 Draft
I give it a C+ because we got one decent starter (McIntosh) and two good servicable DTs that occasionally start (as of the haynesworth deal) and we got a ST which you get in every draft

Re: Re-Grading the 2006 Draft
This is the only way to evaluate a draft, after 2 or 3 years. I would say that our grade should be around a C. We added solid DT depth and a decent starter at OLB with McIntosh (when healthy). I remember Casserly getting crucified by the press for selecting Mario Williams #1 overall. Looks like he got the last laugh on that one.
