Re: RIP Jack Kemp

RIP Jack Kemp. A good American indeed. I've got tons of family in Western NY, so I'm pretty familiar with the man.

I hope this doesn't turn into a political thread, although I fully expect it will.

Re: RIP Jack Kemp

An outstanding QB and a hugely important player in the rise of the Conservative movement. When I was a freshman in high school, circa 1986, I wrote a paper which attempted to predict the future of politics and foreign policy and I had him being elected President in 1988, I think. I wish I had that paper. If he had been more of a presence on the political scene, I think the country and certainly the Republican party would have been the better for it. He sort of faded away on us. I think he found the process distasteful.

Sad news, His son played for the 49ers and Seahawks. I believe all his kids went to Churchill HS.

No offense to Kemp but he kept losing when it turned to Pres./V.P. politics. He may have found losing to be distasteful.

Didn't Brian Holloway and Dhani Jones also attend Churchill? I'm probably missing other attendee's that played in the NFL and/or other sports.

Re: RIP Jack Kemp

I had the opportunity to meet Secretary Kemp in an interview setting when he was still in the old AFL. (I was one of about 30 people in the room so there is no way I can claim that I "knew him" or that he could pick me out a line-up with the last five Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover girls...)

He was a man of class and intellect - - in addition to his athletic abilities.

RIP...
