PGA: 2009 US Open, Bethpage Black
This years 2009 US Open should be a real treat and what a challenge lying ahead at Bethpage.
I don't look for a repeat of the Tiger/Rocco show that was witnessed at Torrey last year, as great as that was. Although this could be equally as great. I would like to see a Tiger and Phil shootout Sunday down the stretch and Phil get it done, as I expect both to be in the hunt. I'm pulling for Phil to get this one. I also like the chances of Zach Johnson, Jim Furyk, Geoff Ogilvy, Padraig Harrington, and my sleeper pick of Tom Lehman. I can see any or all of these guys in the hunt come Sunday afternoon. Should be a great way to wind down with friends, relax with the grill rockin and enjoy Fathers day. That's how I plan on closing my Sunday down. Same plan for me; by the grill with beer in hand and watching the Open.
I'm pulling for Tiger, I love the pursuit of immortality.

Same for me. I love knowing someday I can say I watched the best player ever when he was laying it down. Same reason i liked Jordan.

We will have the grill going and the TV on the back deck watching the Open with plenty of cold beer. I think with the rain yesterday will knock most of the short hitters out of the hunt as they will get no role out of their drives making the course even longer. The rough is really thick so I think the long knocker who can hit the short stuff will win come Monday.

What an opener by Mike Weir. And big KUDOS go out to the old #1 in the world David Duval, see if he can hold up..? Lefty solid!
First group had a little worse luck than the second or late rounders from yesterday, but thats golf. First round about in the books! The weather could be a interesting factor, still a lot of golf to be had 54 holes, game on. Tiger Woods shoots 4-over 74 in first round of U.S. Open - ESPN

Well I brought an older TV to work (remembered the converter box) but the dang thing does not come on regular TV until 11:30. It will be interesting if the two on the top will cave under preasure and who from 5 to 6 back make a run today. Looking at the curent scores Duval is +3 today and is probably out and Tiger is even after 9 and I just don't think he has enough holes left to make a run.

Re: PGA: 2009 US Open, Bethpage Black
I've had the web feed up since 10a today, and have watched Ricky Barnes self-destruct and Lefty start bringing the wood.
Nice to see David Duval do well again. Tiger ran out of real estate, and while Barnes has found a black hole, Glover is cruising. Par out and he should win, unless Lefty has another eagle up his sleeve...or in his pinstripe pantsleg. UPDATE: Glover wins at -4, with Lefty, Duval and Barnes at -2. All 3 of those guys had ample opportunities to challenge Glover down the stretch, and did so temporarily, but in the end just could not stick with Glover's -4.
