They were both headed Southbound towards DC on the Red Line. One was stopped at the station waiting for the track ahead to clear, while the other one was coming into the station. Supposedly all the trains were supposed to be on automatic, and being run by a central computer, which is very common. So you begin to wonder if the train coming into the station was somehow taken off automatic...

Very sad situation. I believe the casualty count is up to 9, with at least 76 injured.
