God the offseason is horrible. TC will be our 2nd string. CB will be a 2A option.

Unless Colt has an outstanding preseason and wins the complete confidence of Zorn, I can't see us taking the risk of having 2 very inexperienced QB's behind JC. Just wouldn't be a smart move.

Re: Which 2? Collins.Colt.Chase..

ideally id like to see JC take every snap this season with colt and chase as the no. 2 and 3.

if colt plays real well in the preseason (or if TC looks horrible) i could see us cutting collins at the very end keeping colt and chase. i'd feel alot better about it if collins (given the late timing he was cut, teams dont like signing a new qb after preseason) goes unsigned so that if JC does go down for an extended period of time collins could be re-signed.

go skins!!

I think we were lucky to have him fall in our lap. All rookies don't pan out of course. But would you take your chance with Collins (back up QB) over Chase (3rd QB) because he is a veteran or go for the upside.

That being said please add this to the equation. Collins was the product of a system in which he was in for over 10 years. He did lead us to a win streak a couple of years ago but stunk it up in the playoff game vs Seattle. This current system is not that system. May be why he looked so horrible last preseason. So what are your thoughts. I think Colt has gained enough experience (in this system) to be our starting QB after he sits on more season and Chase could also be a vaulable project after one year on the sidelines..
Chase was better in '07 than in '08 IMHO. Not sure what to think about who should go. I mean you have 2 Heisman candidate QBs and a proven vet. Collins is the experienced vet that did get us into the playoffs, so he has proven he can get the job done, but he is old. Brennan thus far is a tease and McDaniels is the wildcard since we haven't seen him operate in a Skins uniform. To be honest I would put Chase over Colt. Why? Just for the fact that Chase really earned his Heisman candidacy in the Big 12 playing the likes of OK, Texas, TT, OK St, and Nebraska every season, while Colt got it easy at Hawaii. Don't get me wrong, Colt is exciting, but would he even have been drafted say if he played with the big boys in college? Big 12 football is probably the closest thing to the NFL in Div 1-A, so Chase is used to big games, pressure, etc. The only time Colt had any kind of real pressure on him in college was the Sugar Bowl vs LSU and he got slaughtered.

I agree wholeheartedly. Collins is a cool customer, the two youngsters would break under intense pressure. Would love to see Chase get a honest shot though at making the roster. His Big 12 experience should help his resume.

Re: Which 2? Collins.Colt.Chase..

If the Redskins cut TC after preseason then we are putting all our eggs in a basket and riding JC all the way. If JC doesnt play well this season he may not be offered a contract at the end of the season. This means the Redskins will still be hoping that Colt or Chase can step up or draft a QB in the 2010 draft. We as Redskins fans should all be rooting for JC to really improve and show the FO he is a QB that can lead this team to the playoffs. If JC does paly well then the Skins still have 2 young QB with cheap contracts that may turn out to be solid backups. If Colt shows he can handle the backup duties we should keep him and let TC go due to his age and contract.

I think thats what it will come down to, unless TC has a monster camp and clearly outshines Colt in the preseason he may be gone. If its a close comp they will go with the younger, cheaper deal IMO

He cracked under pressure against Seattle in the playoffs!!. I think his value as a back up was best served in the Saunder offensive system because he was most comfortable in that offense..

I am not convinced that Collins can make it happen for a long stretch of games.

I doubt that Colt is ready to be a starter in the NFC East.

I know Chase is not ready to be a starter in the NFC East.

The thing to root for is that Jason Campbell continues on his improvement curve for the entirety of 2009...
