Re: Redskins Patriots game thread.
this is what happens when morons try to explain the wonders of pre-season. yes Marko looked incredible, but what would he do if he was in there with the first stringers? All of his action...or let's say a solid majority has been in the 2nd half when he is playing vs. watered down competition. Oh...and beating Carlos Rogers in practice doesn't count, Rogers is an awful corner.
I felt the real story about tonights game, was our lack of secondary play, minus Horton who I feel is going to emerge as a leader out here, Hall looked mediocre...certainly for the amount of money we are paying him, and I can't even remember the last time I saw Landry pop somebody. Seriously...I read an article prepping Landry to be the next Ed Reed...while that may sound crazy he could actually do it if people feared him. Like a certain someone who used to wear #21 out there. Overall I was pleased, but i'd like our Offense to sustain drives and give our Defense a break, I feel the biggest reason we trailed off our success last year is our starting O not being able to give our D a good enough rest. |

Re: Redskins Patriots game thread.
I liked what Phil Simms said about Zorn and Campbell:(paraphrasing from memory here) Zorn said he drew up new plays to take advantage of the fact Campbell has a big arm and can stretch the field with ease.

Re: Redskins Patriots game thread.
The fact that the receivers were consistently running wide open was one of my biggest takeaways from last night. Looks like Zorn might know what he's doing when it comes to the play calling and the receivers are doing a good job of route running. I'm sure Campbell will become more consistent with deeper passes as long as they keep dialing them up. Practice makes perfect.

I concur. In the slot and when they display the occasional trickeration. He ran a great route when Campbell got it to him in the middle of the field. If it weren't for a shoe-string tackle, it would have been a huge gain. He still has some spring in his step.

Re: Redskins Patriots game thread.
Lot's of positives and negatives. 3 straight 3 and outs was terrible but I love the way we hung in there and came back. If that was last year the game was over. The pass rush was weak. Haynesworth looks like he needs to get into better shape. When he got double teamed NO ONE could get any pressure. Daniels and Carter need to be spelled some with the younger guys. Smoot played his ass off. When JC had time he was throwing the ball like a mad man. I hope he goes out and has a career year. Marko Mitchell is for real!!!!

Re: Redskins Patriots game thread.
I was very impressed by JC this game...so happy he finally shut up the critics, at least for one night.
He'll have a great year. I am very proud of the whole team, last time we faced the Pats, we were killed on both sides of the ball. If our starters played the whole game, we could have beaten them. Portis would have also been a bonus that we didn't even need to keep up with them in the first half. I blame Suisham for the loss. "But it was 52 yards and wet!" Yeah, he never hits 50+ yarders, regardless of the weather. He never could and obviously never will. He's paid to make these kicks and if he can't...goodbye. Rayner looked great on kickoffs and even though his FG was shorter, he made it. I saw cut Suisham, we've seen what he can and can't do for too long. Colt is making BAD red zone decisions, but otherwise looks good, he's able to take us into the red zone. He won't hit the field anyways, so he could still be a good future backup since he'll have this season to work on decision-making. The physical abilities are obviously solid. Chase is such a tough QB to say we have to cut...he's going to be picked up by someone if we do and has just as much promise as Brennan. I can't decide between the QBs. I am leaning Brennan, but it's too close to call.
