Skins Sign Woodson to Practice Squad

The Redskins have opted to try to sign a bigger quarterback, Kentucky's Andre Woodson, to their practice squad, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Woodson, 25, was a sixth-round draft pick by the New York Giants in 2008. Among his achievements at Kentucky, Woodson, at 6-4, broke the NCAA record of 271 passes (set by Trent Dilfer) without an interception in September 2007. He extended that streak to 325 attempts before it was broken. In the Music City Bowl, he broke the SEC record for passing touchdowns in a season; he eclipsed Danny Wuerffel's record of 39 by one.

Earlier, Chase Daniel, generously listed at 6 feet tall, was signed to the New Orleans Saints' practice squad.

This leaves the Redskins with two open practice squad slots after they signed Lendy Holmes, J.D. Skolnitsky, Eddie Williams, Trent Shelton and Rob Jackson.

Two other players who were cut Saturday by the Redskins found practice squad spots with other teams: Cody Glenn in Indianapolis and Antonio Dixon in Philadelphia.
