If there aren't any viable wide receivers or offensive linemen worth taking at #9, I wouldn't mind us taking Dan Cody of Oklahoma. He either plays DE or DT, not sure. But he is an absolute monster. Watching a clip of him during the Orange Bowl, they showed him in one of those pre-game pep talks -- he was so fired up, he passed out as soon as the players broke the huddle. Even though our defense is mostly solid, he'd be tough to pass up if he's still available.

Since Dallas loves to draft Big 12 players, I would hate to see Cody in a Cowboy uniform. He would haunt us like no other Cowboy defensive player ever has.

I think Cody is wayyy overrated some people have him rated top 5. Did you see him vs. USC? He made one play and vanished. Pollack, Spears, and James all looked good all season and played very well in the bowl games. I would rather see us take Cody the DT from USC...he made some huge plays vs. "the best o-line in college football" according to several analyists

Well, EVERYBODY from Oklahoma 'vanished' against USC the other night. But yes, I've heard David Pollack is as close as it gets to a sure thing.

Mel Kiper was saying on ESPN Radio the other day that defensive linemen are the hardest to figure in the draft. Some dominate in college and then get thrown around like ragdolls in the NFL -- Jamal Reynolds (who??) , Gerard Warren, Dewayne Robertson are recent examples. Others, very few of them mind you -- Richard Seymour, John Henderson, Jevon Kearse are everything scouts hoped they would be.

My tendency this year would be to draft offense anyway, but a part of me still feels that a pocket-collapsing, quarterback-nemesis on the D-line would be the icing on the cake for our defense.

dat dud sucks.

yes he has the physical talent, but he has no heart.

no desire to play football only to receive the fame of being an nfl player.

when he was here in SD, he was know to attend EVERY party in san diego county.

he doesnt care to play football. if he had ricky williams money, he would retire.

wiley has his head waiting to do commentary on tv. abraham is always injured, but solid when not. both those guys would be expensive wastes. i agree that clemons looked like a young n d kalu and has potential. the guy from iowa is a natural rusher. ditto kiwanuka from bc. also the wisconsin de.. those are guys worth looking at. otherwise look for tweeners in the college ranks to come up with someone like KGB of the Pack. cheap, and little downside

ellis resigned along time ago with the jets and abraham is injured to often, and wiley is garbage

its pollack time!!! hands down, the highest motor in football and williams WILL find the best way to execute him. did anyone see the sack he got vs wisconsin? wow what a play... hit the qb so hard they flew together in the air, and while being in the air, he ripps it away from the qb with one hand before hitting the ground therefor giving them the ball. you dont see that kind of ability and smarts from even the nfl level. its usually about the big hit over the turnover and pollack has it in him to do what it takes to get the ball without screwing things up or getting the highlights.

Is Pollack that kid from Georgia? If so, I agree, every time I watched highlights he was creating havoc. I've been hoping all season we end up drafting him...

i would love to get pollack, but not at the number 9 slot. most ppl have him going mid-low 1st round, so if we want him, we should try and trade down a little.

I believe if you strip the ball in such a fashion you're also credited with a sack as far as the stat-sheet goes. At least that's how it worked for individual D scoring on fantasy for us!
