I think you're missing his point; he's not saying that running the ball isn't important, he's saying that a "feature" rb isn't necessary & isn't worth paying a ton of $ for. I think your examples actually make his point, I mean does anyone think Addai or M. Pittman are great backs? Those guys were probably making 1/10 of what CP makes. (J. Lewis was a beast back then btw)
It's not that a great rb isn't worth a lot, it's just that w/good blocking a 4th round pick making small $ can outperform a 28 yr. old w/lots of mileage & injuries that makes big $.
As the Tuna said, it's a "disposable position."
