Re: Let's Give Jim Zorn Some Love!

Obviously, it depends on the contract. The language I have heard is "3 years guarranteed" and I am betting that it specifies the guarranteed position as being head coach. I doubt there is a clause that says something like "you forfeit the guarrantee if you refuse to be demoted." As long as Zorn neither quits the HC position or acts in breach of his k, DS is going to owe him a 3rd year.

If you're asking would JZ agree to be demoted and stay with the team so that a new HC could be brought in, I seriously doubt he would agree to that. I sure as hell wouldn't.

Good coaches also do not bother to waste time on acquiring or developing players they think will not learn. But it's not like Zorn ever had a say in the 2008 draft.

Well, as has been said before, Vinny and Snyder like to have somebody they can push around when things go sour. I've even second guessed Zorn on his play calling, but if everything had worked as he planned it, he would be regarded as a genius. They didn't work this year, mainly because of the offensive line and a jittery QB, so Zorn is viewed as a loser by the front office, not as a genius I wonder why Portis hasn't said anything about Zorn this year?

This is so bizzare. I just heard Kevin Sheehan (980) on ESPN TV. It was as if he'd been reading Warpath to down to a thread. It was scary the stuff he was repeating on air. Like, the fans here (in Washington) could care less if Jon Gruden is hired, they want Cerrato's head; they want him fired. A new coach won't satisfy this very angry fan base. They don't think Zorn is the problem, he's just symptomatic of a larger problem. Even the part about Zorn staying to get the paid the remainder of his contract and how he wouldn't let the Skins push him out.

He really captured in about 3 minutes what has been writted here over the past month.

You answered my question in the first paragraph. I kinda figured it would be position specific, but I was trying to figure out if there was some loop hole DS/VC may have found in regards to "hoping Zorn is the coach of the furture" statement. Obviously instead of cutting him they could move him to another position and technically he's still with the team in the future. LOL. Any coach that would agree to a demotion is crazy so I doubted he would step down to be QB coach.

That could have been any Redskins message board. When Sheehan starts talking pie, super happy fun thread, and question 3 then let's talk
