I'm not sure the whole aim of "sell our team Danny Boy" is to actually get him to sell. At least I didnt take it that way. I think it's just a cry for him to quit f'ing up the franchise. In other words, to get rid of Vinny and start doing things the right way...or else. Although the whole "or else" is kind of a false threat. Anyway, just my opinion.
