I think people seem to forget that not only is our pass protection shot to shit, but our line can't run block. So you're going to put a rook QB to get shell shocked in front of a shitty line, without a good running game? Great, I can't wait for next season.
That being said, I would take a tackle with the first round pick. If a good QB is available, I would pick him up in the 2nd round. I think we can pick up a good RB in the 4th round. Also, let's not forget that our problems won't be solved with one draft.
Personally, I'd try to sucker a team into giving me round picks for Portis or anyone else we can afford to lose and can garner some picks. But that would require a change in the FO, which I pray it happens.

Exactly. Look at how a guy like Jake Long has helped Miami. Or how the Jets O-line (a few first rounders) is helping out Sanchez. Actually, when I think about guys like David Carr and Patrick Ramsey, you could literally break a guys spirit by throwing him to the NFL wolves as a young QB with pathetic protection. Build the lines, everything else will follow.
