He was definitely a great coach and probably a better man. Thanks for the post - very cool stuff.
Well they're partners in the business so I'm sure that they see each other often.

If i did not watch football or the redskins, i would have had no idea who he was, because he was so down to earth and just like a "normal" person.

And yeah, he is tall as hell and in great shape. He looks small on TV, but i am 5'10", and even at 6'3" he towered over me.
I wanna hang out with him now haha.. I'd fit right in..

Tom Ward here Chris (Vermeil Wines GM), great meeting you last night and incredible job by everyone, BLACKSALT is clearly on my "short list" for top restaurants. Glad you enoyed the wines! Coach Vermeil obviously has same passion for wine that he had for football...came by it naturally growing up in Napa Valley. Not sure if you got my card, any questions email me at tom.ward@vermeilwines.com --- will see you soon!

Awesome story GM thanks for sharing. I respect your decision to keep your conversations with Vermeil and Collins because I'm sure I would've done the same in your situation and thanks again for telling us about this once in a lifetime kinda deal. It must've been an amazing experience just to hang out with guys like them and have them be totally chill and cool throughout it.

Re: My evening with Dick Vermeil and Todd Collins

Holy crap this is a cool story. Can't help but envy you GM.

Obviously Vermeil is a legend and I could sit and listen for hours. But I guess in the present I'm more curious about what Collins has to say. Collins always struck me as a super bright guy who had more potential than most would assume.

I'M PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW WE DON'T GET TO HEAR ABOUT THE FOOTBALL TALK!!! GM you should have lied to us and said football wasn't discussed cuz this way it's just a big tease. A thing i've thought about quite a lot is what if Snyder had done the right thing and promoted Williams to HC and turned the offense completely over to Saunders. I know the FO/personnel issues would probably still be a shit-show but no doubt we'd be a much better football team. I guess how this is connected to Collins is because I think Saunders would have started Todd because he knows that offense inside-out. It probably would have been better for Jason long run too being able to watch that system done right. Shit man I just get curious if Collins thinks about what could have been...he could have had some late-career glory day in DC under better circumstances.

Hey tom- it was great meeting you as well. Great wines!! I enjoyed the Charbono and Cab the most. I've got your card, and I will email you if I have any questions. Also, Jeff mentioned doing a big wine dinner with Coach in the near future. Hopefully that will happen.

Very cool that you found the Warpath and this thread so shortly after our event last night!

Congrats! On your night and the biz seems like you had a great time as any of us would have. Good thinking keeping the convo private that shows your a stand up guy.

I drink beer all the time but lately my bro has been talking about wine. I tried something called Pinoit Greno (white wine) or something. I tasted like like sour grapes and everclear.
Could suggest something that might have a better taste maybe sweeter.

LOL Pinot Grigio maybe? I don't like sweet white wines at all.

Maybe I'll start a thread in the Parking Lot about wine and anyone who is interested can discuss it there. I'm not a sommelier by any means. Our 4 locations all have their own sommeliers. I do know a decent amount about wine though, and I enjoy drinking it and talking about it.

I was happy to be able to share my experiences on Monday night. I'm glad everyone enjoyed reading about it.
