To get the rivalry back where it used to be, both franchises need to turn their respective fortunes around and have the game mean something.

I respectfully disagree. If you go to a Cowboys fan site you will find many fans who have anti-Redskins messages for avatars and signatures. Once they find out you are a Skins fan, they will immediately attack you like hungry piranhas. I can't speak for Cowboys players but for many of the Cowboys fans, it's on.
