i'm not saying that others may, i just think that they were hitting the holes harder and the o line saw that and started blocking harder, and i don't think that that is so far fetched

Don't forget that the o-line practiced with Betts often and Portis little.

portis practiced with them in mincamps, as far as i know portis sat out about 75% of the practices reg season
