Nobody in the know seems to dispute that he's a solid defensive mind, so I'm willing to be open to what he may bring to the table. These are points well taken, also during the time he was HC in NO he had a DC in Rick Venturi who was to blame for a variety of their failures on defense. I'm willing to give this hire the benefit of the doubt and use my trusted approach in wait and see how it works out.
