Latest Fanball Mock Draft- Skins trade down to #10

http://www.fanball.com/fb/article.cfm/ID.2409

In this mock, we trade down with Texas and pick up Will Smith, DE at #10.
Answer 3 questions for me-
1-In this scenario, would it be too much to hope that we would receive Texas' 2nd round pick also?
2- If we got their second rounder, who might be available still that we would want? Any of the good TE's, LB's or D Linemen?
3- Would we be better off with Will Smith or Kenechi Udeze if we trade down to #10? Can someone who watches alot of college football sound off on that topic? From what I read, Udeze is the better of the 2...

For a team that really wants the #5 pick, a 2nd rounder is not out of the question.
At #10, KWII or Taylor may still be available, considering the needs of the 5-9 teams. We could still probably get a decent lineman in the second round.

udeze would be the better pick... you don't get 16.5 sacks (3 against a solid michigan line in the rose bowl) in your last season and call it a fluke.

I defintley dont think Taylor would be around. Wouldnt the whole point of the Texans trading up in the first place, is to get Taylor?

According to the trade value chart (http://www.nfldraftview.com/tvchart.html), the values would add up just about right if the Texans included the 8th pick in the 2nd round (#40 overall).

According to Mel Kiper's latest 2nd round projection (http://proxy.espn.go.com/ncf/columns...mel&id=1776794), there would be some starting-quality players available at positions of need for the Redskins with the #40 pick. These include LBs Karlos Dansby (Auburn), Daryl Smith (Georgia Tech), Courtney Watson (Notre Dame), Teddy Lehman (Oklahoma) and Michael Boulware (Florida State); DE Antwan Odom (Alabama) and DT Randy Starks (Maryland) might also be available.

I didn't watch a lot of college ball throughout the season, but based on what I did see in the bowl games (watching these two players in particular), and what I've read in various scouting reports, Udeze seems like a more well-rounded D-lineman, and a more consistent pass rush threat.

In this particular trade down scenario, I would select Udeze at #10, and pray that Starks is still available at #40 (possible, but I doubt it). Getting that duo could transform the D-line into a legitimate front-four against both the run and the pass.

I'm thinking the Redskins trade down, get quality D-line, and just be happy with Ohalate.

TRADE DOWN!!! We need D-linemen. I'm with most of you take Udeze. He had 16.5 sacks last season, and alot of the time he had double and triple team blocking on his ass. He is a bad Mo Fo. If by chance, he is not available at #10 Will Smith would not be a bad choice either.

I would't move for anything less than a high 2nd rd pick, and that's only to drop to or around the 10 spot, but with all the depth in this draft I doubt we will find a lot of team's willing to give up a lot to move up, they know they can sit on thier pick's and get a real good player.

if New England is willing to offer 2 first and one second for the pick BEHIND us, we should be able to get more than just a first and second. I realize the Texans picks are both higher up than new englands late round picks, but IMO 2 late first round picks and one late 2nd round pick r better than 1 1st and 1 2nd. just the 2 first round picks alone r better than the first and second.

JoeCrisp- you are the man! Your resources are astounding! Exactly what I was looking for. You have now given me my dream scenario for this draft. Trade down to #10, pick up Udeze and then Starks in the second round! We would truly have a defensive line to contend with if we could add both of those guys! Also, I wasn't aware Udeze had 3 sacks in the Rose Bowl along with all those sacks overall- along with what I've read about him being a general all-around playmaker, causing fumbles and knocking down passes, the fact that he comes up large in big games is the final key. I hope we draft him! Having Udeze and Lavar on the field at the same time would be scary fun!

Especially since Ben Troupe's (sp?) stock is falling.
