Re: RIP Merlin Olsen

He was a heck of a DT. You don't hear his name often enough when people talk about the greats these days.

Re: RIP Merlin Olsen

Growing up, I idolized Merlin Olsen even though he played for the Rams. What a great player and quality individual. RIP.

Re: RIP Merlin Olsen

I just heard about this... my parents called me this morning; they live 3 houses down from him. If I recall, he owned a few Volvo dealerships in Pasadena, CA.

Yup. His call on the replay of the 4th-and-1 touchdown run by Riggo: "You cannot hit Riggins high."

Re: RIP Merlin Olsen

Condolences to the Olsen family. Between his TV series and the "Fearsome Foursome" Deacon Jones, Lamar Lundy, Rosevelt Greer, and Merlin Olsen, left a life and legacy we will all remember. I'm sure he will be missed....and I really did enjoy watching him play. His soul will RIP.

Re: RIP Merlin Olsen

I'm friends with Merlin Olson, too. He comes over. On occasion.

-Anchorman

I've only seen some bits and pieces of his play but I remember when I was around 10 or so, a friend/business associate of my father's gave me a Merlin Olsen football card in mint condition, said he was a special player and I'd end up finding out who he was later on.
