Biggest room for improvement?
Redskins Insider - Shanahan on Heyer: Untapped ability but hard work is needed Swinging screen door/matador OL need more than simply improvement. They need a pink slip.

Re: Five Redskins Most Likely To Improve
1. Thomas-I think he's got Brandon Marshall potential, he just needs to put it all together. He seems like he's going at 100 MPH sometimes and gets out of control. He showed flashes last year and hopefully with McCardell's help and Shanny putting him in position to make plays, he breaks out in '10.
2. Kelly-Use him in situations that will maximize his abilities. That's the charge for Mike and Kyle and I think they will step up to that challenge. 3. Mike Williams-Shanahan loves him (as noted by the 3 year extension) and I think he could be a Leonard Davis type story-1st round bust tackle to Pro Bowl contender at G. 4. Orakpo for obvious reasons but it's almost cheating to put him. He was going to improve anyway. 5. Alridge-Only because I expect him to be the 3rd down back and on the kickoff return team. He's going to get his shot this year.

Re: Five Redskins Most Likely To Improve
No point in cutting guys like Heyer or Rinehart unless there are betters players out there. With only 5 draft picks it's going to be tough to replace everyone. Perhaps there will be some UDFA's or some training camp cuts worth looking at, but otherwise the best thing we can hope for is these guys to show some improvement under Shanahan.

Re: Five Redskins Most Likely To Improve
^Ill be extremely surprised to see both make the team, trash will be taken out end of training camp cause your right really not alot of options which what the article basically states. But being part of the worst Oline in the league last year doesnt say too much about their ability. Nothing wrong with hope

Re: Five Redskins Most Likely To Improve
I don't get why Rinehart is considered a waste. he could wind up being one, but as of right now, he's only played two years. Rinehart was picked at the bottom of the third round. i dont think many guards picked in that spot are expected to be bonafide starters in their first two years. it takes some players time to develop. Shanahan was supposedly impressed after watching some of his film. If Rinehart can become a decent backup by the end of this year, then i'll consider the pick a success. if he can't even be a good backup by the end of NEXT year, then i'll consider him a bust.

Re: Five Redskins Most Likely To Improve
Id consider him a bust cause he hasnt done sh*t. Sure I would like him to turn it around, but these are the same conversations we had about the Oline LAST year around this time. Id say lets move on from the worst Oline in the league.

Re: Five Redskins Most Likely To Improve
Jason Campbell - i understand and agree with the sentiment that JC needs a better offensive line for him to improve.
with that said, we have gotten to watch him for 3 years now and, believe it or not, there have been plays were the o line holds, a receiver is open enough yet JC doesnt make the proper read or accurate enough throw. i think a qbs ability to properly read defenses pre-snap, identify the blitz, read coverage and know where to go with the ball is they most important mental aspect of quarterbacking. most of his college scouting reports said he needed to be coached up on this aspect. i dont think he has had a coach that was able to present JC with the proper preparation and teaching for him to grow in this regard. i feel really good about what shanny and kyle and lefeur (sp?) bring to the table in regards to translating what they want from him in a manner JC can comprehend and utilize. maybe, with actual coaching, he can become an actual qb. i heard him talking the other day and he said he has to unlearn what zorn taught him about staying low b/c our new coaches want him standing tall in the pocket. he said when players asked him why he threw a 3 yd pass on 3rd and 9, he said that was the play that was called and he couldnt audible/change it. while gibbs was a great coach, i dont think he updated his qb manual form the 80's where you could excel with a handoff, handoff, PA pass qb. i dont think zorn was necessarily bad for his development in a qb teaching aspect, but i do think zorn greatly handcuffed JC and our offense with his play calling. and the fact that are play calling was always late and odd, didnt give JC enough time to step up to the line and survey things. it seemed we always started lining up with 10-15 seconds left on the play clock, JC would get under center with 8 seconds left, not much time to change speeds on when you hike the ball or allow JC time to let what he is seeing from the defense sink in. it always seemed like JC would get under center, hike the ball 2 seconds later. i think alot of these problems are gone and JC is set to improve.

However, I think Rinehart will really pick it up this year and actually become a starter.

Re: Five Redskins Most Likely To Improve
Too early to write off Rino, remember just as he got the starting job back last year that's when he got hurt. The guy has some talent to work with. I feel much better about the chances of him developing into a decent OL than Heyer.
